Why do you not offer FREE Shipping on ALL of your items?

Unfinished Furniture of Wilmington offer the lowest price possible on any item in our inventory. Many furniture stores inflate their prices to cover costs of shipping, and then advertise that item as 'Free Shipping'. We do realize that not all stores do this, but as we have found, the majority do. We also simply cannot afford to pay to ship items for you, and would rather use that money to improve our website, invest in more inventory and in our store location in Wilmington NC. Please note than any shipping we do charge, is charged out at cost. We make no profit on shipping!

How do I know if a product is in stock?

We don't have live inventory on our site, except for clearance items, so you will not be able to tell if a product is in stock or not from the website. We recommend calling us at 910-399-2276 or emailing us at for stock status. Otherwise, once your order is placed, we will send you a personalized order acknowledgement with the stock status and estimated lead time if applicable.

What does "local pickup" mean?

When you select the "local pickup" option, you will pick your order up from our store in Wilmington, North Carolina. If you cannot pickup from our store, select one of the other shipping options.

What do you mean by "real wood"?

Real Wood Furniture means high-quality furniture that is made of real wood. There is never any particle board or MDF. All of our manufactures use solid wood face frames, drawers and posts. Some use solid wood tops and concealed adjustable hinges on the doors.

What are the advantages of real wood?

Real wood furniture is durable and will often outlast synthetic materials. Small nicks and scratches can be easily touched up. As well many of our manufactures offer some sort of customization. For a small fee many items can be modified to suit the customer's requirements. Last you can always change the color of the furniture later on down the road. Whether it is to refresh the piece after the kids have grown or to repurpose an item to fit in another space real wood can be worked on time and time again.

What types of wood do you sell?

We deal with many manufacturers that make furniture in selected softwoods as well as hardwoods. Some species are: Eastern White Pine, Radiata Pine, Paulownia, Oak, Maple, Cherry, Birch, and Parawood. All of them have their own unique grain and staining characteristics.

Can I get a catalog from you?

Because we sell so many items from our many vendors it is near impossible to print a catalog of all of what we sell. You can however browse our online shopping cart to look for all sorts of different items. If there is any need for more information please e-mail us at anytime, we would be glad to answer any questions you may have.

Will my furniture come assembled?

Not all of our items come assembled from the manufacturer. Disassembled items will be denoted as such in the description. If an item is described as "RTA" (short for "ready to assemble"), it will come disassembled in a box. Disassembled items will have all the hardware necessary to put it together with the exception of wood glue.

How long does it take to get my furniture from Unfinished Furniture of Wilmington?

We try to keep many items in stock for immediate processing and delivery. We cannot keep everything that we list in our site in stock at all times. Also, some items are designed and encouraged to be on a special order basis. The time line does vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but the whole process should only be at most, three weeks or less depending on where they are in the product cycle. For this reason we do not process any credit card on an item that is not in stock until we contact you, the customer, to make sure you are aware and approve of the time period on your specific order.

What is R+L Carriers?

R+L Carriers is an LTL freight carrier that we use to deliver particularly big, bulky, or heavy items. When shipped with R+L, your furniture will be delivered on a pallet curbside. Since they use semi-trucks, they will need to have a smooth and somewhat wide road to your home or workspace in order to deliver your pieces. In some circumstances, they are able to roll your delivery into a garage or carport, only if there is a fully paved and completely accessible driveway (i.e. no snowbanks, no gravel, etc.). Are all your products made in the USA?

We offer a wide variety of products made both in and outside the United States. Products that are made in America will denote so in their product description. If you are unsure of whether one of our products is made in the USA, please feel free to contact us at or 910-399-2276 with the item name and SKU number.

Do you have any promo codes, sales, or discounts?

At Unfinished Furniture of Wilmington we do not believe in marking products up to mark them down. We keep our prices as low as possible, while still paying our employees a living wage and covering the bills.

Are your products Prop 65 compliant?

Yes, all our products are Proposition 65 compliant. If you have severe allergies or sensitivities, we do not recommend purchasing any wood products. Many wood products use a latex and/or formaldehyde based glue, necessary to preserve the adhesive qualities, that can be an allergen to some. For more information on Prop 65, visit

I requested a shipping quote, now what?

When a shipping quote is requested, one of our staff members will calculate shipping for the products you are interested in from our store to your provided zip code. None of your payment information has been collected and you have not officially ordered the items. Once we have a shipping quote for you, we will send it to you via email. Then, you can place an order online selecting "has custom shipping quote" and we will add the cost to your total.

Care and Cleaning

  • Avoid using nail polish remover or other acetone products on or near your finished wood products. It will cause severe damage to the finish. 
  • Clean using a damp cloth. Dry dusting can push small dirt and dust particles into the surface. 
  • Avoid using cleaner or polish with silicone, wax solvents, or abrasives. We recommend using a gentle cleaner, like Method Daily Wood Cleaner
  • Never use alcohol on your wood surfaces. Much like acetone, alcohol will damage the finish. 
  • Try to place your furniture in an area that is out of direct sunlight. Overtime, continual sun and/or fluorescent light exposure can alter the finish and/or wood. 
  • Be wary of placing your furniture in the direct path of a heat source. Ideally, your furniture should be placed in an area with good air circulation, but the air shouldn’t be blowing directly on the piece.
  • Keep the humidity in your home anywhere between 35 and 45 percent. If it is too low, it can cause the furniture to dry out and crack. Too high and the furniture can warp. 
  • Remove dust on a regular basis. Build up of dust can cause the finish to dull and can scratch the finish if not removed correctly. 
  • Wipe up spills promptly to negate damage to your piece. Our manufacturers all use finish that resists liquids, but if not cleaned up in a reasonable timeframe, spills can harm the finish.

Returns and Refunds

We understand that things happen and we’re here to help you out! We will do everything we can to make it right if there is a problem with your order. 


Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery or pickup date. If your piece is damaged or missing parts, please contact us at with your order number, a brief explanation of the issue, and pictures if applicable. We will do our best to find a solution, whether it be a credit, sending a replacement piece or part, or arranging for a return. 


Should you need to return your piece for any reason, please contact us at or 910-399-2276 for authorization and steps. 


Returned items must be in saleable condition, unless given authorization by us to return otherwise. Items are not returnable if they are in un-saleable condition, are missing parts, and/or damaged. We do not take returns on custom finished items. 


You may return any product for a full refund. Any shipping costs will only be covered by the store should the reason for return be an error on our behalf, on the shipping company’s behalf, or is authorized in advance. You are responsible for all shipping fees otherwise. 


All returns, unless stated otherwise will be subject to a restocking fee, at our discretion, and this fee will be clearly stated with any request for return, and varies depending on the item(s).


We will notify you via email of your refund once we have received and processed the returned item. You can expect a refund in the same form of payment originally used for purchase within 7 to 14 business days of our receiving your return.
