The Alder McKenzie Bookcase works perfectly in any room in your home. The spacious shelves allow for creativity and versatility for displaying your favorite books, precious family photos, keepsakes, and more. This unit features a fitted back to provide extra stability and 1 adjustable shelf.  Use alone or combine with other pieces in the McKenzie Bookcase Collection.

It comes fully assembled and is available unfinished or in the following  finish options:

  •  Stained (Glazed Antique Cherry, Caffe, Fieldstone, Hazelnut, Java, Pecan, or Natural Alder)
  •  Select Sherwin Williams® paint (Snowbound, Aged White, Silverplate, or Tricorn Black)
  • Two-tone finish

All two-tone finishes feature the paint color of your choosing on the outside and the clear natural Alder finish on the inside and the shelves.  Only the painted finishes are available for the two-tone option.

As a result, it can also ship on a pallet with the rest of your order.

The 1530, like all the McKenzie bookcases, can be flush cut at no additional charge.

To request a flush cut, please specify the following in the comment section at checkout:

  • For the crown to be flush cut on the left, specify “FCL” or “Flush Cut Left”.
  • For the crown to be flush cut on the right, specify “FCR” or Flush Cut Right”.
  • For the crown to be flush cut on both sides, specify “FCB” or “Flush Cut Both”.

Wood Species

Alder is a species native to the Pacific Northwest. It grows in an approximate 125 mile-wide strip along the West Coast that stretches from Alaska to Northern California. The largest concentration of Alder stands just north of Portland, Oregon.

Alder regenerates naturally and prolifically and flourishes in areas where other species might not survive. Its unique nitrogen-fixing properties enrich root systems, add nutrients to the soil and assist neighboring plants to establish and thrive. Also, since Alder develops so quickly, it helps prevent soil erosion and provides protection to more delicate and slow-growing species such as Douglas Fir, Cedar and Hemlock.
