About the WH931 Pine Barn Door Island:

The Pine Barn Door Island features a beautiful X pattern on the doors and the back side of the unit. The Maple wood top offers ample room for serving food or entertaining guests.  It includes four functional drawers in the center section and a fixed shelf on each side. In addition, the two solid wood barn doors slide easily on the metal track. The black accent of the hardware contributes to the farmhouse feel.  In addition, this island ships unfinished, but easily stains to match your existing furniture. The unit ships assembled only and is also proudly made in the USA.

*Please Note:  It is not recommended to paint Pine items in a solid color.  Knots and heavy grain WILL show through.  In addition, painting will also reveal every possible “imperfection” around knots and other areas.  Natural cracks are expected and will stand out when painting.  Fighting Creek is also not responsible for knots and grains that bleed through a painted finish.  To minimize bleed through with painted finishes, we highly recommend using a shellac based primer.

Wood Species

As a coniferous tree, Pine is a softwood.  It features a fine texture and a knotty grain.  It has a high resistance to shock, making it a great choice for furniture-making applications. Pine wood is also resistant to shrinking and swelling.  Though it is lightweight and easy to work with, Pine can be susceptible to scratches and dents.  An oil-based sealer can be used to protect the wood and also helps to bring out its character and grain.
