Wood Species

Red Oak

Red Oak is a popular choice for furniture due to its durability.  It has a light to medium brown color with a slight reddish cast.  It also features a straight to wavy grain and a moderate density.  Red Oak is known for its strength and hardness, making it suitable for furniture that experiences daily use.  It also glues, stains, and finishes well.

Brown Maple

Brown Maple wood offers a variety of shades including brown, tans, whites, and creams.  The color can include light and dark streaks. It has a sleek, smooth grain and a fine uniform texture that make it ideal for painting, staining, or distressing.  Brown Maple can contain variation providing a unique look. One of the softer woods, Brown Maple is durable and economical.

Rustic Cherry

Rustic cherry furniture is characterized by more pronounced grain variations, knots, and other imperfections, creating a rustic, country, or cottage-style aesthetic. While it is a hardwood, it is on the softer side and is more prone to dents than other hardwoods.  It features a circular grain pattern and may have a wide range of colors including white, brown, or deep red areas.

Rustic Quarter Sawn White Oak

Rustic Quarter Sawn White Oak offers a unique blend of rustic charm and durability. T his wood is sawn at a 90-degree angle, resulting in a distinct grain pattern and increased stability. The quarter-sawn process creates a distinctive, often “tiger stripe” grain pattern, especially in the radial direction. White oak is a durable hardwood, known for its strength and resistance to wear and tear, making it suitable for furniture. Rustic QSWO embraces natural imperfections like knots and burls, giving it a more rustic or farmhouse aesthetic.
