About the Amish Pine Bookcase (VR1830-10):

This bookcase works perfectly in narrow spaces. It features a cabinet grade plywood back and a single, adjustable solid wood shelf. The case dimensions are 18 inches wide, 30 inches tall, and 10 inches deep. The trim adds an inch to the depth and two inches to the width. This small bookcase also works well in a small bedroom or office or can even function as a unique side table. This bookcase is also Amish-built and ships fully assembled.

*Please Note: It is not recommended to paint Pine items in a solid color. Knots and heavy grain WILL show through. In addition, painting will also reveal every possible “imperfection” around knots and other areas. Natural cracks are expected and will stand out when painting. Fighting Creek is not responsible for knots and grains that bleed through a painted finish. To minimize bleed through with painted finishes, we highly recommend using a shellac based primer.

Wood Species

As a coniferous tree, Pine is a softwood. It features a fine texture and a knotty grain. It has a high resistance to shock, making it a great choice for furniture-making applications. Pine wood is also resistant to shrinking and swelling. Though it is lightweight and easy to work with, Pine can be susceptible to scratches and dents. An oil-based sealer can be used to protect the wood and also helps to bring out its character and grain.
