The 1631 McKenzie Alder Cabinet, is a classic staple for every home. Quality materials, including sustainably-sourced American Alder hardwoods, combines with timeless craftsmanship to ensure a lifetime of durability and strength. This bookcase is proudly made in the USA and features custom molding options.

About the 1631 McKenzie 48″Alder Cabinet (1631):

This classic bookcase console base blends beauty and function. This cabinet works great as an entry table, credenza, or even a sofa back table. The spacious shelves allow for creativity and versatility where you can display books, photos, and more. This unit features 1 adjustable shelf behind each set of doors (2 shelves total) and a fitted back.  It also features a tipping restraint for extra stability. Use it alone or combine it with the 48 inch wide hutch, model 1632 (sold separately).

It comes fully assembled and is also available unfinished or in the following finish options:

  •  Stained (Glazed Antique Cherry, Fieldstone,  Hazelnut, Pecan, Java, or Natural Alder)
  •  Select Sherwin Williams® paint (Snowbound or Tricorn Black)
  • Two-tone finish

All two-tone finishes feature the paint color of your choosing on the outside and the clear natural Alder finish on the inside and the shelves.  Only the painted finishes are available for the two-tone option.

This cabinet ships assembled, and, as a result, it is too large for both UPS and FedEx.

For a shipping quote, proceed to checkout and select the “R+L Carriers” option under shipping.

We also offer FREE local pickup at our Wilmington, North Carolina location.

Alder is a species native to the Pacific Northwest. It grows in an approximate 125 mile-wide strip along the West Coast that stretches from Alaska to Northern California. The largest concentration of Alder stands just north of Portland, Oregon.

Alder regenerates naturally and prolifically and flourishes in areas where other species might not survive. Its unique nitrogen-fixing properties enrich root systems, add nutrients to the soil and assist neighboring plants to establish and thrive. Also, since Alder develops so quickly, it helps prevent soil erosion and provides protection to more delicate and slow-growing species such as Douglas Fir, Cedar and Hemlock.
